For those of you concerned, (and for those of you not), we are in the middle of a nor'easter.
What's a nor'easter, you might wonder? I had to look it up, so allow me to explain.
It's a lot of rain. A LOT.
A more formal definition would go something like: 'a low pressure area whose center of rotation is just off the East Coast, with winds from the northeast'.
It's only difference from a tropical cyclone is that it is a cold-core low pressure system, rather than a warm-core low pressure system.
(Trying to locate us? We're right where that yellow is.)
So basically, it's been raining for days. And will continue to rain for days. We've already gotten feet of rain! FEET!!
Obviously, lots of flooding is occurring, but so far our little home and cars are doing just fine. (What is it about flooding that seems to following me everywhere?)
All local schools and the air force base are closed. Matt was able to make it into work today, but we're not sure about tomorrow. (NASA is on lower ground and a lot closer to the coast.)
Honestly, the biggest pain is letting Toby outside to do his business as our backyard is more pond than grass right now. Or rather the pain is letting him back IN the house! :)
I'm not trying to be an alarmist or anything, but FEET of rain people!

Oh, my. That's a lot of rain. I'm glad you are on fairly high ground. I noticed the Tropical Storm hitting the East coast, but didn't realize you were right in the middle of it. Stay safe!!
