Weight Check

Today Lisa had another weight check with her pediatrician.

For the past several weeks we've been monitoring her weight closely. Her previous pediatrician was concerned about where she had landed on the growth chart and her 'lack of plumpness' and so thought there might be something medically wrong.

Since then, we were able to get her into a new pediatric group that was recommended to us by friends with a doctor we love. After evaluating everything, Dr. Rhonda is keeping close tabs on Lisa and frequently checking her weight gain. (Tests and bloodwork will be taken if it appears Lisa becomes unhealthy, but no one thinks it will come to that now.) I've begun working with a great lactation consultant figuring out ways to encourage Lisa to eat a little more. And a lot of what we've been working on is finally paying off! I'm making more milk and Lisa is doing a great job nursing! She still continues to spit up (sometimes quite a bit), which might be one of the many small contributing factors. If it doesn't get better in the next few weeks, there are a couple of things we could try to help her with that.

She's gained 4 oz since last week. Not huge by any means, but she's holding her own. And Dr. Rhonda thinks she's healthy and happy, which is a relief to Matt and I.

We'll continue to watch Lisa's weight gain, but it appears things are improving and working themselves out!

"She can't help being small - just makes more room for the cute!"

  1. How adorable!! When you look at her Mama and Daddy, she doesn't have much of a chance to be very big...just right where she should be! Thanks for the picture..I printed it off. She has a proud Great-Grandma!
