Hurricane Irene

***Sunday 2:00pm update: Our internet has just started working again! Otherwise I would have updated sooner. We lost power for about 3 hours, but once it came back we didn't lose it again. SO thankful for that!! We had a windy night, but amazingly don't really have that much damage. Small branches down and leaves everywhere.

However, inside we had a few leaks! Our roof/ceiling was leaking near the front of our house, the girls carpet got soaked near their window, and we saw trickles of water running down our kitchen walls! Yikes! Makes me so glad we don't own this home!

Besides the problems with this house, we really escaped a lot of possible damage. We still have friends nearby without power, and many neighbors have trees that have fallen. I'm still trying to figure out the amount of rain/wind we actually ended up with in our area. Thanks for your prayers!! ***

***1:15pm update: Just lost power. We still have a few more hours till the eye passes, so we'll see how long things are down. All in all, the storm really isn't that bad. Right now, both girls are napping, which mean the house is nice and quite! :) ***

***10:45am update: It's been raining all night, and this morning we're experiencing tropical storm conditions - lots of wind and rain. We still have power & internet, but hear that several friends nearby have lots theirs (we don't expect our power to last much longer!) All is well right now!***

Just an update to our friends and family who are concerned:

Yep, we've decided to stick it out. We're on slightly higher ground than our surrounding counties, and based on past storms, don't think flooding will be an issue for us.

We've gathered our supplies and feel that we're good for several days if there ends up being power outages. (Our biggest fear is losing all the food in our fridge/freezer! We've stocked it full of containers of frozen water - we'll see if that helps any...)

That's about it right now! We're going to be watching and waiting with everyone else, and will try and update when we can, depending on power/internet availability.

Prayers are more than welcomed, especially as I've come down with some sort of killer cold/fever combo that's left me pretty useless. Thankfully I've married a rockstar who's gotten us prepared for this upcoming storm in addition to watching 2 crazy kids! Thanks babe!!
