With cherry blossom season just starting, we made a short trip up to D.C. this past weekend. It's something we've been wanting to do for a while, and we're SO glad we made it work!
We left really early:



Doing better after some coffee & breakfast:



Experiencing our first ever Subway:

We headed straight to the National Building Museum for the Cherry Blossom Festival.


Geared toward kids, there was a ton of crafts and activities, music and performances.



The sunshine wasn't going to last much longer, so we headed to the Mall:





Matt was looking forward to seeing the (relatively new) WWII memorial:







Enjoying all the cherry tree blossoms!


That night it snowed. So we decided to tour the Smithsonian inside the next day!
We spent most of our day in the National History Museum, then buzzed around the Natural History Museum before heading home.
Lisa and Matt found an awesome children's area with lots of hands on activities:


And I found Julia Child's kitchen:

Sam looks so big in the picture in front of the kitchen!! Glad you guys had fun. I want to go see the cherry blossoms sometime but I don't think it will be this year. :( I will have to get your tips before we go.
