It's official. We're on our way to see the shuttle launch!
A little history: apparently, a few weeks before a launch is set to take place, NASA will offer a few tickets to each center for a few lucky employees to use. These tickets, by the way, are for access to the causeway - the closest place to watch the launch from.
When we received the email letting us know tickets were available, we decided to try and go, and emailed back we would like a ticket.
I'm sure the person who received our email started laughing. She replied back that all the tickets were already spoken for - after about 5 min!
So to make a very long and boring story longer, it turns out that someone is not going to be able to make it and graciously gave us their ticket.
We were thrilled. Matt has always wanted to see a shuttle launch, and there are only 3 more scheduled. Ever. (Well, at least until we get a new commander in chief.)
So, this coming Saturday, at some ridiculously early hour, we're hoping on a plane down to Orlando to watch a huge rocket shoot into space!
(And we're hoping the weather cooperates, so there are no delays!)
I'm jealous! What a treat. Have a great time. You'll have to tell Lisa what she witnessed as a baby! Love, Aunt Carol
